In June, the Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club begins its operations with two courses and a total of 27 holes. In December, the Clubhouse is officially inaugurated, attended by His Royal Highness the Count of Barcelona, institutional representatives, founding members and its designer, the world champion Severiano Ballesteros.

Since then, the Club has continuously grown and expanded both its facilities and services and strengthened its presence on the professional circuit.

A nine-hole expansion is carried out to complete the 2 courses, which together feature 36 holes. The practice range is expanded and covered facilities are added, bringing the total number of training spaces to 150. It has a total length of 300 metres, with multiple chipping areas with a bunker, a pitch and putt course, three short holes, and four putting greens. It is undoubtedly one of the best practice facilities in southern Spain.

Thanks to the opening of the Iberostar Royal Andalus in 1991 and the Iberostar Andalucía Playa in 2000—both just five minutes by foot from the golf courses—the Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club has become one of Europe’s premier golf resorts. Its location on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the area’s ideal climate have made it the ideal golf destination in Andalusia.

A change in the company shareholders occurs. On 27 July, Thomas Cook, one of the world’s most important tour operators and the club’s majority shareholder, organises the sale of its ownership in multiple hotels and golf courses to a group of investors led by the Iberostar Group.

Positioned as one of the most renowned golf courses on the international circuit, from 12 May 2016, the club gains Royal consideration. This title reflects the importance of this historic space, along with the superb quality of its services and facilities.
